MORE WORK
We design to solve problems.
We make things to extend our abilities and help us reach our goals. We made axes to chop wood and build shelter—now we build software to connect, stay healthy, and make the most of our time on this big blue planet.
Over the years, we’ve developed a repeatable, measurable way to approach problem-solving: the scientific method. In the world of designing technology, we riffed on that and called it Design Thinking.
That’s why my approach to design always starts at first principles:
What’s the problem?
Who’s experiencing it?
What are their needs, abilities, values, and preferences—and how do those shape the boundaries of a good solution?
From there, we prototype quickly based on our hypothesis, test our assumptions, and learn what works—so we can build the next, better version.
